Film Thoughts: Dil Ka Rishta (2003, Hindi)

[Written May 2008]
Wow.

Had to "pull the plug" on this one after the guy's declaration of love scene.

The hate started with Arjun's character's beloved fondling of his deceased mother's anklets/payal, talking to the payal, practically kissing the payal. This really pissed me off- anyone else? I think it was the fact that his mother had been reduced to her anklets, a "symbol" of femininity, and that's what he used to represent her! And the hate continued when Arjun's character announces to his dad that the girl he's fallen in love with is deaf and mute. Wtf? How was that clear from the retarded "love at first sight" basketball class scene? She does some random overexxagerated simple hand gestures and we're supposed to think it's sign language? And then Arjun's character falls completely in love with her after seeing her for about 5 total minutes? And let's interrupt her class and assume that you're god's gift to women. Standard boy-chases-girl fare! Gotta love the bad movies in Bollywood, and this one is *really* bad. :) Although I think I'm putting too much thought into this obviously brainless movie. :) The only redeeming quality is the songs.
