Three Allu-Arjun-related posts in a row. Yay!
With all of the buzz about Allu Arjun's upcoming release Varudu (translation: "Groom"), there seem to be rumors afloat on the 'nets that he is getting married. I almost fell over when I first read the title of this video: "Allu Arjun About His Marriage at Varudu Audio Function." WHAT?
I dutifully watched the video trying to eek out any English words whatsoever to string together a coherent thought. All I heard was "definitely love marriage," "accept" and "respect." What does it mean! Some further searching returned mostly gossip but then this article at Ragalahari said "Speaking about his marriage Arjun said, “If anyone are eager to know when I would become ‘Varudu’ you may directly ask Allu Aravind garu as I am going to marry a girl of my parents’ choice only.” Soooo "about his marriage" as in "past tense" as in "already decided"?!
This necessitated a furiously-typed email to my friend who speaks Telugu pleading with him to pleeeeease translate for me so I can get to the bottom of this. Here was his gracious response!
"He is saying that everyone is asking if he is going to go for love marriage or arranged marriage and when is he going to get married? Then he explains that his dad came to him and and said "its marriage age so tell me if you have a girl friend or a girl in mind. I will be happy to approve it." Then Allu Arjun said to his dad that, "dad you gave respect to my feelings and opinions and I would like give it back to you. I have no girl friend or girl in mind. You are educated and thoughtful, so I will marry any girl you pick for me."
Okay! So this is very different from Arjun definitely getting married or planning a marriage or any of that nonsense floating around. He is simply saying that he has agreed to marry a girl his father chooses when that time comes. An arranged marriage! Wow! I must say I'm a bit surprised that happy-go-lucky party-boy Bunny is the type to settle down. But that's sort of sweet about the respect for his father bit. Awwww...
Perhaps the most important part of his words was this: "I have no girl friend or girl in mind." In that case: Allu Aravind! Lookie here! Pick me! Pick me! White American chick with a good family and morals! Isn't that precisely what you're looking for? ;)
Anyway, my horror at the thought of Arjun getting married is that I don't want anything messing with his career or number of films coming out! But what am I worried about? Mahesh Babu, Dhanush, Ajith... all going strong and every bit post-matrimonial. It's only the girls that have this problem, isn't it!
Or maybe we've all been duped and this is one big publicity stunt. :D
Now what I'm really curious about is what Venu Medhav said that required Aravind to escort him away. :)
